Mac News: Business Card Composer 5 adds map integration

Business Card Composer now features Google Maps integration, as BeLight Software released a new version of its business card creation and printing application. In addition, Business Card Composer 5 features 210 re-designed business card templates as well as 140 new templates in its Retail edition.

However, it's the Google Maps integration that highlights the . The feature lets users mark where their business is in Google Maps, placing a small map on their card to provide exact directions.

Other changes in Business Card Composer 5 include support for 2D barcodes and Snow Leopard compatibility. In addition, the updated application introduces iPhoto '09 and Aperture integration as well as support for iPhoto events--changes that BeLight says will make it easier to work with photos in the program.

Business Card Composer 5 costs $35 for the Standard edition and $40 for the Retail version. Existing customers can upgrade for $20, though anyone who bought Business Card Composer 4 on or after August 1, 2009 can upgrade for free.--

Ambrosia Software's , the popular screen-capture utility, has been updated to version 2.2.1. The new version incorporates a number of bug fixes and other enhancements, including improved performance when saving QuickTime movies, a patch for audio recording support on PowerPC machines and Macs running Mac OS X 10.4, a fix for a hotkey conflict with Snow Leopard's trackpad input, and more.

Snapz Pro X 2.2.1 requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later and is a free upgrade for all registered users of Snapz Pro X 2.x; a new license costs $69.--

RecoSoft has expanded its PDF2Office line, announcing a file-format conversion utility aimed at iWork users. converts PDF documents into fully editable iWork '08 and '09 files.

The application will replicate every page in a PDF into an equivalent page for iWork's Keynote presentation and Pages page-layout applications. Recosoft promises a simple and uncluttered interface for the PDF converter.

Look for PDF2Office for iWork to arrive in November. RecoSoft hasn't announced pricing for the utility yet, though the company said that it would offer Single User, Family Pack, and SOHO licenses.--
