Surface brachte Microsoft bislang 853 Millionen Dollar ein

Microsoft hat mit seinen Surface-Tablets bislang insgesamt 853 Millionen Dollar eingenommen.

Das geht aus einer Mitteilung des Konzerns an die amerikanische Finanzaufsicht SEC hervor. Im Quartalsbericht war das Geschäft mit den neuen Tablets nicht separat aufgeführt. In dem Zeitraum bis Ende Juni hatte Microsoft allerdings 900 Millionen Dollar auf den Wertverlust von bislang unverkauften Geräten abschreiben müssen.

Das erste Surface RT war im Oktober auf den Markt gekommen, das jüngste Modell Surface Pro mit vollwertigem PC-Betriebssystem folgte im Februar. Mit deutlichen Preisabschlägen und Rabatt-Aktionen speziell für Schulen versuchte Microsoft zuletzt, den Absatz der Geräte zu beschleunigen. Das Surface ist das erste Tablet aus Microsofts eigener Produktion. Die Geräte sollen vor allem auch den Absatz des neuen Betriebssystems Windows 8 beleben, der derzeit unter dem anhaltend schwachen PC-Markt leidet.

Nach Berechnungen des "Wall Street Journal" hat Microsoft bislang rund 1,7 Millionen Surface-Tablets absetzen können. Konkurrent Apple konnte dagegen allein im jüngsten Quartal 14,6 Millionen iPads verkaufen. (dpa/tc)
