Declines in PC markets in Hong Kong, New Zealand and Taiwan were 1.4 percent, 2.2 percent and five percent. However, not all nations were in the worry mode as both India and Malaysia experienced growth of 17 percent and 21.6 percent respectively, which Gartner notes is due to the mobile PC growth.

Slowdown of PC growth in mature markets is there as consumers find less need to spend on PCs. They now find in the market alternative products and services allowing them to do work which earlier could be done only on the PC.

Lenovo continues to hold the leading position in the Asia Pacific PC market. The leader is closely followed by Acer Group and Dell; HP and ASUS are at the fourth and fifth position respectively.

"Lenovo continued to pick up market share especially from HP and Dell. HP's re-organisation and Dell's change in its business strategy for better margins gains have affected their shipment levels," said Tay.
