Tan noted minimal overlap in market base between the two companies. Speedy-Tech's clients include global electronics players like Canon, Emerson Network Power, Hewlett-Packard, Huawei Technologies, and LG Electronics.
"The merger gives us manufacturing capabilities we didn't have before," Tan added, noting Speedy-Tech's production in facilities. "About 80 percent of Speedy-Tech's production in China stays in China." Tan added the merger will also consolidate the design capabilities of Eazix Inc., IMI's design arm, with Speedy-Tech.
Established in 1980, IMI offers core manufacturing capabilities like PCB assembly, sub-assembly and complete product assembly services. For 2006, Tan projects storage media and production of LCDs for various devices will remain growth drivers for the company.
